  • Water for Development, World Water Week 2015

    ECOSWat accompanied two delegates from Thai ministries to attend the World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden. During August 23rd – 28th, Dr. Somkiat Prajamwong, Director, Office of Project Management, Royal Irrigation Department and Mr. Jatuporn Buruspat, Director General, Department of Water Resources attended the World Water Week and met with Thomas Stratenwerth from BMUB, Germany.

    Department of Water Resources of Thailand and GIZ organized the Dialogue forum on “German Flood Protection Strategy ” to introduce the German Flood Protection Strategy as well as the draft Water Resources Management Strategy of Thailand, on 22nd April 2015.

  • Institutional Capacity Development Assessment

    GIZ-ECOSWat has recently conducted the Institutional Capacity Development Assessment by international and national experts. The project is conducting this study in order to target and plan EbA capacity building activities according to the needs of the institutions and to identify potential partners, who have the necessary leverage in the institutions to actually implement EbA projects. We also aim to identify potential partners for the implementation of the EbA Training for Water Management.

    The assessment kicked off with our implementing partner, Department of Water Resources. The experts were welcomed by the Director Bureau of Water Resources Conservation and Rehabilitation and his team members. Then we may carry on and work with our stakeholders in Bangkok and in regional offices respectively. We are very thankful for the cooperative approaches from our colleagues.

  • Mid-Term Review by External Experts

    GIZ-ECOSWat has been conducting the Mid-Term Review with our counterparts and stakeholders by the external experts recently. The project aim to assess the project's progress related to the indicators and objectives formulated in the offer. Also, we expect to hear the recommendations from our colleagues for further implementation and adjustment, therefore, we are heading to the right directions.

    The Mid-Term Review has started with our main implementing partner, Department of Water Resources in the Central and Regions, along with national and international stakeholders.

  • Natural flood control in Thailand

    Thailand is trying to combat floods by building dams made of bamboo and sand and planting new trees. That helps stabilize the soil during the rains and eventually pays off for farmers too by producing better harvests.

    The first workshop of GIZ-ECOSWat was held on 10th–11th October 2013. The workshop aims to introduce the implementing partners and to brainstorm on the activities which will be implemented in the pilot areas.
